Shaving
July 22nd, 2008So, its been awhile since I have done anything with the site. I figured I would try to turn it into something more of a traditional blog than the photo blog I ran. So here goes…
For the past year I have been using a straight razor to shave. I had used disposables and electrics before but it was more of a chore and inconvenience than anything. I finally decided to try a straight razor after seeing an inexpensive disposable model, the Dovo Shavette. It is quite an unnerving experience the first time you hold an open blade to your neck, but its not as easy to cut yourself as you would think. In fact, my worst injury to date has been from cutting my finger because I was paying so much attention to not cutting my face I lost track of where my hand was. I have since moved up to some higher end shaving cream, a good shave brush and an actual fixed blade razor.
The real straight razor takes a little more effort to maintain, but does an even better job than the disposable. After a year or so I even have it down to about the same time it took me to shave with regular razors before and it does a much better job.
